      • Utilize the proper cleaner;
        • Citra Pro: This is a degreaser for floors with oil build up.
        • Lythic Cleaner: This is used on floors with standard ‘dirt’ build up.
          • Note: If your floors have been sealed with a membrane forming cure and seal this needs to be removed. This can be removed by using our Citra Peel coating remover with a black floor pad
  2. Make sure the floor is clean and free from footprints, dirty water spots etc.
  3. Densify the floor with Lythic Densifier
  4. Dry Burnish the floor with a high speed floor buffer (propane is preferable) and a 3000 grit diamond pad.
  5. Apply Lythic Stain Protector2 coats
    • Allow to dry and buff with hogs hair or a white buffing pad.
      • A 3000 grit pad will work if the stain protector is allowed adequate time to dry.

Note

This method is a fantastic way to make your concrete floor easier to clean and look better. Older floors may require you to start at a lower grit and successively work up in grits (50, 100, 200, 400….). We have “tornado satellite pads” that work great for lower grits.

Expanded Epoxy Flake Instructions

Glu Gone

Glu Gone is a yellow carpet glue remover. It should be used wherever yellow carpet glue is an issue. Let it soak and use a razor blade floor scraper to remove the yellow carpet glue from the concrete. Heavier areas may need more than one coat of Glu Gone.

Super Blue

Super Blue is a penetrating concentrated descaler and concrete surface renovator. It removes lime, mortar, scale, rust and more. It is the safe substitute for muriatic acid and is combined with many of our concrete systems!

Moisture Mitigator

Moisture Mitigator is an optional step but is highly recommended for those who have moisture coming up from their concrete. Moisture is one of the many reasons floor coatings fail. Moisture tests are simple, take a plastic sheet and duck tape it to the floor. Leave it on for 24 hours. If there is moisture under the plastic it’s wise to place the mitigator down prior to placing down any epoxy.

HyperREZ UV

HyperREZ UV is a 100% solids epoxy. This product is very durable, extremely hard wearing, high gloss and offers chemical resistant protection with extreme UV resistance. It comes clear and can be pigmented with one of the 13 color choices Concrete Floor Supply offers.

Polish System Level 2 – Satin Finish

The polished concrete floor level 2 produces a satin sheen polished concrete finish. On brand new, hard troweled concrete floors this floor produces a very clean look and even sheen similar to a Wal-mart or Sam’s club. In fact, this method was modeled after the owner of Concrete Floor Supply’s experience with their flooring program.

  1. Choose the right Tornado Satellite pad to start polishing the floor with based on the following:
    • New Floors that have been laser screeded and ride on power trowel finished = 400 satellite pad
    • Older floors, poorly troweled, or new floors that aren’t power troweled should start with 30 to 50 grit pads.
      • Remember, the important work is done at the lower steps.
  2. Utilized the Tornado Satellite on any of the following tools:
    • Propane burnisher
    • Slow speed floor buffer
    • Auto Scrubber
      • Make at least 2 slow passes overlapping each pass with the Tornado Satellite Pads
        • New floors 400
        • Old floors 30,50,100, 200,
      • The more down pressure (weight) on the pads the better
      • Utilize the proper cleaner during the first cut:
        • Citra Pro degreaser for floors with oil build up
        • Super Blue (diluted) for old dingy floors that need revitalized
        • Lythic Cleaner for floors with standard ‘dirt’
          • Note: if the floor has been sealed with a membrane forming cure and seal this needs to be removed. This can be removed by using our Citra Peel coating remover and a black floor pad. Do this prior to any polishing.
  3. After making the initial cuts (400 cut new floor, 200 cut old floor) with the Tornado Satellite Pads, make sure floor is clean and free from footprints, dirty water spots etc.
    • Using an auto scrubber to clean is recommended.
      • For those who have a basement or an area where the larger Auto Scrubber won’t fit we suggest using our Small Auto Scrubber
  4. Densify floor with Lythic Densifier (after 200, or 400 grit)
  5. Continue the polishing process making two passes for each grit.
    • IE: if you stopped at the 200 to densify, continue polishing with successive grits (400, 800, 1500). Do not skip grits or you won’t get the results. Grit succession for Tornado Satellite Pads are as follows:
      • 30
      • 50
      • 100
      • 200
      • 400
      • 800
      • 1500
  6. Clean the floor with an Auto Scrubber
  7. Dry Burnish floor with a high speed floor buffer (propane is preferable) and a 3000 grit diamond Tornado Pad. Leaf blow any dust.
  8. Apply Lythic Stain Protector (two coats)
    • Allow to dry and buff with hogs hair or white buffing pad.
      • 3000 grit pad will work if the stain protector is allowed adequate time to dry
    • For added protection from oil, and better liquid repellency apply EZ Shield, then apply Lythic Stain Protector

Polish System Level 3 – Gloss Finish

This system is our number one, “go to”, system for both new and old floors. It provides the look and durability of a fully polished floor (level 4), but takes significantly less time to complete. If you want a great looking polished concrete floor, but don’t need to ‘see through it’….this is your system!

  1. Choose the right diamond tool to start polishing the floor with based on the following:
    • New Floors that have been laser screeded and ride on power trowel finished:
    • Older floors, poorly troweled, or new floors that aren’t power troweled:
      • Should start with 50 grit FLX Copper Resin
    • Older Floors with damage:
      • Should start with 60/80 grit pizza segments or lower.
        • Remember, the important work is done at the lower steps.
        • Make at least 2 slow passes overlapping each pass
        • The more down pressure (weight) on the pads the better
      • Utilize the proper cleaner during the first cut:
        • Citra Pro degreaser for floors with oil build up
        • Super Blue (diluted) for old dingy floors that need revitalized
        • Lythic Cleaner for floors with standard ‘dirt’
          • Note: if the floor has been sealed with a membrane forming cure and seal this needs to be removed. This can be removed by using our Citra Peel coating remover and a black floor pad. Do this prior to any polishing.
  2. Continue polishing the floor utilizing successive grits of the CFS FLX Copper Resins.
    • I.E. if you started with a 50 grit, your succession would be:
      • 50
      • 100
      • 200
  3. Clean slurry off of the floor after each step. Don’t let slurry dry.
  4. After 200 grit CFS FLX Copper Resins make sure floor is clean and free from footprints, dirty water spots etc.
    • Using an Auto Scrubber to clean is recommended.
      • You’ll save tons of time and have a better floor.
        • For those who have a basement or an area where the larger Auto Scrubber won’t fit we suggest using our Small Auto Scrubber
  5. Densify floor with Lythic Densifier
  6. Continue the polishing process utilizing Tornado Satellite Pads on a Propane Burnisher making two passes for each grit. Run pads fully wet. Do not skip grits or you won’t get the results. Grit succession for tornado satellites are as follows:
    • 400
    • 800
    • 1500
  7. Clean the floor with an Auto Scrubber
  8. Dry Burnish floor with a high speed floor buffer (propane is preferable) and a 3000 grit Tornado Diamond Pad. Leaf blow any dust.
  9. Apply Lythic Stain Protector (two coats)
    • Allow to dry and buff with hogs hair or white buffing pad.
      • A 3000 grit pad will work if the stain protector is allowed adequate time to dry
